Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

To submit your research article or African e-lit works, please visit our online submission portal at https://madsej.africanelit.org. Follow the instructions provided to create an account, upload your manuscript, and enter the necessary details. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.

MADSEJ accepts only papers written and cited in MLA Latest Edition guidelines except for French Papers which be lastest APA:

  1. All in-line text citation for website and social media articles cites the Author’s Last Name without page number thus: (Ajah) whereas the paginated works maintain the normal parenthetical citation, author’s last name and page number without comma as follows (Waliya 29).
  2. Citing articles on Website
    Cite specific page on a website in MLA format for MADSEJ in this formatting structure:
    Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of the Web Page." Title of the Website, Publisher, Date Published, URL.
    Example of work cited:
    Ajah, Richard. "The Smartest scholar of all times in the Universe" Guiness Book of Record, 3 Oct. 2023, guinessbook.com/2023/09/03/professor/#hViqdPbFbgqH.
    Please it’s not necessary to include “http://" or "https://" from the URL (Website address) unless you want to hyperlink it. Additionally, if a DOI is available, include it with "https://" before the DOI.
  3.  Citing text on social media:
     Twitter:
    Last Name, First Name (or Twitter handle). "Text of the Tweet." Twitter, Date, URL.
    For instance:

    Facebook:
    Last Name, First Name (or Facebook username). "Text of the Post." Facebook, Date, URL.
